Like most people this time of year, we find ourselves saying ‘Where has the last 12 months gone?’, we’re convinced it gets faster every year…
Well during 2022, team Desoutter has been busy, and we thought we’d share some of our highs, and sadly our lows.
Our year opened on the hunt for new premises to base our brand-new iNnovation Centre, the hub of all past, present and future Desoutter solutions. A place to host events, showcase our value and invite our networks to visit us so they can discover, learn, engage and sometimes just have a chat. We can’t tell you how excited we are about opening our doors in January! Fancy having a look for yourself? Just give us a call, you are more than welcome!
When visiting you will get to see Nexonar first-hard, the camera-based positioning system and most advanced technology of its kind. We welcomed Nexonar into our eco-system back in January with the acquisition of Soft2Tech and since then, have been delivering it into production environments, where it is providing unparalleled accuracy in tool positioning, traceability, and operator guidance. If you’re keen to know more, reach out to our team to request a demo at your facility or watch our webinar. We are certain you will be impressed!
It’s not all just business within our team, we are proud to say that we make time to work with charities and take part in fundraising activities. We ran two key events this year, the first a team climb up Snowdon, which turned out to be in tough weather conditions - soggy socks and sandwiches but an enjoyable accomplishment all the same. The second a marathon around Loch Ness – months of preparation, lonely hours on the open road but a huge tick off the bucket list was well worth the pain for two of our team. And of course, the real reason was to raise money for our charity partners Zarach, a team dedicated to securing a bed for every child living in poverty across the UK. We’re sticking with these guys in 2023, what’s next - Scafell Pike? Watch this space!
As we reached summer and completed some key projects, and having tracked our CO2 use since January, we had unfortunately created 20 Tonnes of CO2, and therefore decided to offset it by planting 120 trees in North Yorkshire. This is such an easy way to help reduce our negative impact on the planet and organised by a fantastic family business. Thinking of doing the same, go to the Make It Wild website where you can also make a positive contribution.
Quarter 3 was upon us, and after a very successful first half, it was clear there was a need for investment in our team in order to continue our growth plans and building upon our customer delivery and ongoing partnerships in all areas of the UK. Stephen Draper-Garcia was promoted to Southern Region Sales Manager, and a new Northern Region Team was created and led by Scott Howard. Our team is still growing, and we have several open vacancies.
The fourth quarter started with a bang as we opened our iNnovation Centre in Congleton, attended Advanced Engineering and hit target. Our increased team meant we had the ability to present our brand across more channels, and our stand had such a high number of visitors it was difficult to move around (which was a good thing as we received hundreds of leads). It was a true pleasure to welcome each and every visitor.
2022 has been a record-breaking year for Desoutter UK, delivering more market-leading solutions to a wider range of customers. With developments for 2023 already underway, this time next year…who knows where we will be.
As we close this piece, we sadly pay tribute to our colleague, Debbie Aldridge, who passed away on Tuesday 29th November after a short fight against Cancer. We will miss Debbie enormously, not just as our co-worker but our good friend. To keep Debbie with us, we are naming our new iNnovation Centre Boardroom after her and will be known as the Desoutter Aldridge Board Room.
On a final note, we wish you a restful, joyous and memorable Christmas, and we look forward to seeing you in 2023!
